Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Preferred: Gold-top serum gel tube or plain, red top tube

Specimen Volume:  0.5 mL of serum

Stability:  Refrigerated 7 days/Frozen at -20 C for prolonged storage

Collection Instructions: Allow specimen to completely clot before centrifugation.

Reference Values

0.80-2.34 mcg/mL

Useful For

Elevated levels may be helpful in diagnosis of tubule-interstitial disorders, systemic lupus erythematosus, malignant lymphoma and myeloma.
