Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Preferred: Green-top (lithium heparin) tube

Acceptable: Gold-top serum gel tube or plain red-top tube
Specimen Volume: 0.1 mL of lithium heparin plasma

Stability: Samples may be stored at room temperature for 12 hours or at 2 – 8°C for

               three days. For longer storage, samples may be frozen at -20°C for up to one month.

0.5-3.6 ng/mL

Useful For

The quantitation of CKMB is routinely ordered as part of the cardiac panel and is useful in the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
