Collection Instructions: No preservative. Refrigerate specimen following collection, and send specimen refrigerated.

Determination of serum and urine osmolality can be useful in the assessment of electrolyte and acid-base disorders, in the detection of unmeasured substances in the serum, and in the assessment of renal concentrating ability.
