Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Preferred: Green-top (lithium heparin) tube

Acceptable: Gold-top serum gel tube, plain red-sop tube, or lavender-top (EDTA) tube

Minimum Specimen Volume: 2.2 µL plus a dead volume

Stability: Specimens should be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection and kept at 2 – 8 °C and analyzed within 7 days. For longer storage, samples may be frozen at -20 °C for up to 4 weeks.

Males: <190 U/L

Female: < 170 U/L
