Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube:
Preferred: Gold-top serum gel tube or plain, red-top tube
Acceptable: Green-top (lithium heparin or sodium heparin) tube or lavender-top (EDTA) tube
Specimen minimum Volume: 30 uL plus dead space of serum or plasma
Stability: Store samples at 2 to 8°C up to 21 days. Store at 25°C for 3 days. Freeze samples, devoid of red blood cells, at or below -20°C for up to 3 months. Samples can be frozen 6 times.

Samples with equivocal and reactive results with the index value greater than 1.00 will be sent to UnityPoint Pathology Laboratories for confirmatory testing. Results will be transmitted to the Iowa Disease Surveillance System through the IDSS interface.
