Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube:
Preferred: Random Urine Collection
Specimen Volume: 4mL of urine (minimum volume of 80 µL plus a dead volume ) from a 24-hour collection.
Stability: 7 days at 20-25 ⁰C, 1 month at 4-8 ⁰C, or 6 months at -20 ⁰C.
Collection Instructions: Samples should not be collected after exertion, in the presence of
urinary tract infection, during acute illness, immediately after surgery, or after an
acute fluid load. Specimens should be collected without preservatives. Specimens
visibly contaminated with blood are not suitable for analysis of albumin concentration.
