Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube:
Preferred: Lavender-Top (EDTA) Whole Blood
Specimen Volume: 300µL Whole Blood (3mL Lavender EDTA tube with minimum volume of 1mL), or 250µL Whole Blood (EDTA Microtainer)
Stability: Samples are stable for 24 hours at room temperature and up to 36 hours at 4°C. Refrigerated samples must be allowed to come to room temperature before testing.
Collection Instructions: Forward promptly.

Useful For
Abnormalities meeting established criteria are to be reviewed by a Pathologist. These include erythrocyte, platelet and leukocyte abnormalities. Additionally, smears may be ordered for Pathology review by a patient's physician regardless of review criteria.
