Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube:
Preferred: Pink-top (EDTA) Tube
Acceptable: Lavender-top (EDTA) tube
Specimen Volume: 3 mL of EDTA whole blood
Stability: The sample should be tested as soon as possible following collection. If a delay in testing occurs, the sample should be stored 2-6 C.
Collection Instructions: For women that are Rh negative and have delivered an Rh positive infant, wait for at least one hour after delivery but should be collected specimen as soon as possible thereafter.
Note: Not indicated if baby known to be Rh negative.
