Specimen Requirements

1. Contact microbiology laboratory to obtain a list of acceptable specimen types and collection media.
2. Swabs and tissue should be placed in transport media and stored at refrigerate temperature. Other specimens are collected in screw-capped, sterile containers and stored refrigerated.

3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
Note: Indicate specimen source on specimen container and in computer.
