Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Preferred: Green-top (lithium heparin) tube

Acceptable: Gold-top serum  gel tube or plain, red-top tube
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of plasma or serum

Stability: Amylase in serum and heparinzed plasma is stable for up to 7 days

               at room temperature and 6 months at 2-8°C. For longer storage, samples

               may be frozen at -20°C or colder for up to one year.
