Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Preferred: Green-top (lithium heparin) tube 

Acceptable: Gold-top serum gel tube, plain red-top tube, or  lavender-top (EDTA) tube

Minimum Specimen Volume: 1.5 µL plus dead volume

Stability: Samples can be kept at 2 – 8°C and analyzed within 7 days. For longer storage,

                 samples may be frozen at -20°C for 1 year.

1 year-≤17 years:

5-18 mg/dL

18-60 years:

6-20 mg/dL
