Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Preferred: Blood, capillary

Acceptable:Heparin or EDTA venous whole blood

Specimen Volume: 0.6 uL

Stability: Venous blood testing must be performed within 30 minutes of drawing the sample

 

 

 

 

Reference Values

0-2 days:  55-65 mg/dL

>2 days:  70-99 mg/dL


Critical Lows

0-2 days:  <46 mg/dL

>2 days:  <60 mg/dL

Critical Highs

0-2days: >200 mg/dL

>2 days: >400 mg/dL
