Specimen Requirements

Beckman Coulter Hemoccult Slides or fresh, unpreserved stool

(Supplied by St. Luke's Supply Distribution)

 

Unpreserved stool specimen may be sent, provided it is received by St. Luke's microbiology department within 24 hours of collection.

 

Inoculated samples are stable for 14 days at room temp and protected from light. Unpreserved stool samples are stable for 24 hours when refrigerated at 2-8 °C.
